The RELIC Lonestar is an OWB belt holster engineered for 4 o'clock strong-side carry, built around a rigid US-made Boltaron thermoplastic exterior shell with Grade A Full Grain U.S. Steerhide leather sewn through the shell under U.S. Patent No. 12,540,791 — a construction method no other manufacturer can legally replicate. It delivers a tactically silent draw, complete trigger guard protection, and zero hard-plastic contact with your firearm's finish, with fully adjustable retention, cant, and ride height, and your choice of Quick-Release or Belt Feed belt attachment. Built in Texas and backed by a limited lifetime warranty, the Lonestar is the most configurable holster in the RELIC lineup.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Patented Leather-Through-Boltaron Construction (U.S. Patent No. 12,540,791): Grade A Full Grain U.S. Steerhide leather is sewn directly through the Boltaron shell — not layered, glued, or pressed inside — creating a construction method protected by utility patent that no other manufacturer can legally replicate.
  • Rigid Boltaron Exterior Shell: The hard outer shell provides complete trigger guard coverage and structural integrity that does not flex, deform, or collapse under heat, cold, or sustained carry pressure. Your firearm and trigger remain protected.
  • Leather Interior Lining — Only Leather Contacts Your Firearm: The Steerhide lining eliminates all direct polymer-to-gun contact, protecting your firearm's finish from the scratching and wear marks that plastic-lined holsters cause over time. The leather is soft against the gun; rigid material stays on the outside.
  • Adjustable Retention — The Lonestar includes fully adjustable retention. Dial in exactly how much resistance you want on the draw — set it tighter for duty carry or active use, open it for range or competition work. Your holster, set to your standard.
  • Fully Adjustable Cant: Set the holster angle to match your draw stroke, body type, and carry preference. No fixed angles, no compromises.
  • Adjustable Ride Height: Move the holster up or down on the belt to fine-tune both concealment and draw accessibility. Works across a wide range of body types and belt heights.
  • Two Belt Attachment Options — Quick-Release or Belt Feed: The Quick-Release clip allows fast, tool-free daily on-and-off. The Belt Feed clip threads directly over the belt for a lower-profile, secure duty-style mount. Select your preference at checkout. Both are compatible with standard belt widths.
  • Tactically Silent Draw and Re-Holster: The leather lining absorbs friction and eliminates the plastic-on-metal scraping noise associated with polymer-lined holsters. Quiet in both directions — on the draw and on the return.
  • Non-Collapsible Shell — Safe One-Handed Re-Holstering: The Boltaron exterior holds its shape regardless of carry position or body pressure. The holster mouth stays open after the draw, making one-handed re-holstering safe and consistent without looking down.
  • Available for Hundreds of Firearm Models: Including Glock 17, Sig P365, Walther PK380, and hundreds of additional models. Select your exact firearm at checkout to ensure a precision fit.
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty: Every RELIC Lonestar is backed by our limited lifetime warranty. We build it to last; if it doesn't, we stand behind it.

The Boltaron Advantage

Boltaron is the thermoplastic used in commercial aircraft interior panels — an application that demands dimensional stability, temperature resistance, and structural performance that Kydex cannot match. Boltaron is harder, lighter, and more resistant to heat deformation than Kydex, holding its precise tolerances in extreme temperatures and under sustained mechanical stress. In a holster, that means a shell that does not warp in a hot vehicle, does not loosen at the retention point over time, and maintains a consistent draw feel from day one through years of daily carry. We build every RELIC Series holster from US-made Boltaron because it performs at a level the holster industry's standard material simply does not reach.

FAQ

What is an OWB holster?

An OWB (outside the waistband) holster mounts to your belt on the outside of your pants, positioning the firearm against the hip on the strong side. OWB holsters are generally faster to draw from than IWB (inside the waistband) designs due to the more accessible carry angle and the absence of a waistband between the hand and the grip. They are a standard choice for open carry, range use, duty carry, and everyday carry in settings where concealment is not required. The RELIC Lonestar is an OWB belt holster optimized for strong-side carry at the 4 o'clock position.

What is the best carry position for an OWB holster?

The 4 o'clock position — located behind the strong-side hip, roughly at the four o'clock mark when viewed from above — is widely considered the most ergonomic and efficient position for OWB carry. It places the firearm within natural reach of the dominant hand, maintains a clear grip when seated or moving, and produces a consistent draw angle that works for most body types. The RELIC Lonestar is designed specifically for 4 o'clock strong-side carry. Its fully adjustable cant allows fine-tuning of the draw angle to accommodate individual preference within that position.

What is the difference between a Quick-Release and a Belt Feed holster clip?

A Quick-Release clip attaches to your belt without threading the belt through the clip — you can put the holster on or take it off in seconds without removing your belt. This is a practical option for daily civilian carry where you want fast, repeatable on-and-off. A Belt Feed clip threads directly over the belt, producing a lower-profile, more secure mount that does not release under lateral pressure or physical activity. It is the preferred option for duty-style use or any application where the holster needs to stay fixed under demanding conditions. The RELIC Lonestar is available with either attachment; select your preference at checkout.

What is the difference between Boltaron and Kydex?

Boltaron and Kydex are both thermoplastic sheet materials commonly used in holster construction, but they are not equivalent in performance. Boltaron is the material specified for commercial aircraft interior panels, a use case that demands resistance to sustained heat, structural rigidity, and long-term dimensional stability under mechanical stress. In direct comparison, Boltaron is harder, lighter, and more temperature-resistant than Kydex. It holds its molded shape in extreme heat — such as a vehicle interior on a summer day — better than Kydex, and maintains consistent retention tolerances over a longer service life. The RELIC Series uses US-made Boltaron exclusively. For anyone who has carried in a Kydex holster, the structural difference is noticeable.

Why does adjustable retention matter in a holster?

Retention is the amount of resistance a holster applies to the firearm during the draw. A holster with fixed retention cannot be tuned to your preference and cannot compensate for wear over time — as the holster breaks in, the draw may loosen beyond an acceptable level with no way to correct it. Adjustable retention allows you to set the exact resistance level that matches your use case: tighter for duty carry, active movement, or high-retention requirements; lighter for competition, range work, or faster draw applications. It also allows you to restore original retention tension as the holster ages. The RELIC Lonestar includes adjustable retention, which is a feature specific to this model and not standard across the full RELIC lineup.
