Section 1: How to Break In Your JM4 Leather Holster
Breaking in a leather holster is not optional — it is the step that transforms a stiff, new holster into one that fits your specific firearm exactly. Full grain leather, like the 100% U.S. Steerhide we use at JM4 Tactical, must be worked and formed to the contours of your gun's frame, trigger guard, and barrel. A holster that has not been properly broken in will feel tight and resist a clean draw. Once broken in correctly, the leather conforms to your firearm, retention improves, the draw becomes smooth and consistent, and the finish on your gun is better protected over time.

How long does it take to break in a leather holster?
Most JM4 leather holsters are substantially broken in after 50 to 100 holster-and-draw repetitions with the actual firearm. Full break-in typically develops over the first two to four weeks of regular use. The leather will continue to improve and conform to the firearm beyond the initial break-in period.
Do I need to use my actual firearm to break in my JM4 holster?
Using your actual firearm is the most effective method. A blue gun or training gun of the exact same model is also acceptable. Using a different gun model is not recommended — the leather will form to the wrong dimensions.
Can I use leather conditioner on my JM4 holster?
No. We do not recommend leather conditioner because our holsters have been treated with a mixture of oil and waxes. Conditioners will damage the treatment and potentially the leather itself. Instead we would recommend taking a small amount of warm Olive Oil while using a sponge rub it onto the leather. Hang to let dry. This will replenish any lost oils and also give your holster a nice patina finish.

How does the JM4 magnetic holster attach without a belt?
The JM4 magnetic holster uses a patented magnetic retention system that grips the waistband of any pants, shorts, skirts, or athletic wear without a belt. The magnet inside the holster body creates a firm hold against the inside of the waistband through the fabric. No clip, no loop, no belt required.
Can women wear the JM4 magnetic holster with leggings or athletic wear?
Yes. The magnetic retention system works with leggings, athletic waistbands, and yoga pants. JM4 was designed with female concealed carriers in mind from the beginning — the original magnetic holster was invented specifically to give Shawndalyn, one of the company's co-owners, a comfortable carry option that worked with all clothing.
How do I adjust the cant and ride height on my RELIC Series holster?
Loosen the hardware on the mounting loops to adjust cant — rotate the holster body to your preferred angle and tighten. To adjust ride height, reposition the mounting loops higher or lower through the belt slots before tightening. See the demo video above for a full walkthrough.
