JM4 Tactical is an American-made holster company based in Abilene, Texas, specializing in patented magnetic concealed carry holsters, RELIC Series hybrid holsters, and Full Grain U.S. Steerhide gun belts — all handcrafted in the USA since March 2016. Founded by husband and wife Chad and Shawndalyn, JM4 Tactical has grown from a garage operation into a nationally recognized brand with 10-plus years in business, more than 15 American jobs created, and a customer repeat rate of approximately 50 percent — numbers that reflect something more than a well-run business.
The Origin Story
Chad and Shawndalyn took their License to Carry class together. Chad — a former United States Marine with a production background — had no issue finding a holster he'd wear every day. Shawndalyn was a different story. Every holster on the market required a belt she didn't own and hadn't worn since grade school. The clips snagged fabric and punched holes through clothing she actually wanted to wear. The inside-the-waistband options were uncomfortable. The outside options were worse. The result: Shawndalyn carried in her purse, not on her person, and that bothered Chad.
He set out to solve one specific problem — design a holster that would allow his wife to carry comfortably on her person, without a belt, without clips, and without sacrificing her clothing. What he came up with was a magnetic retention system unlike anything on the market. The holster didn't require a belt. It didn't clip to a waistband. It attached magnetically, worked with virtually any clothing, and stayed put. The problem was solved. The product was real. And on March 15, 2016, JM4 Tactical launched the Magnetic Quick Click and Carry Holster from a garage in Abilene, Texas.
That original product is still one of our top sellers. What started as a solution for one person — for Shawndalyn — turned out to be the solution hundreds of thousands of carriers had been looking for. We have not changed the core commitment since: build something that actually works for real people, make it in America, and stand behind it completely.
What We Build
Our product line centers on three categories, all made in Abilene, Texas. The Patented Magnetic Holster line — covered by U.S. Patent 9,784,530 B1 and U.S. Patent 11,747,109 — remains our original and best-known product, offering magnetic retention that works across clothing styles and carry positions. The RELIC Series, protected under U.S. Patent No. 12,540,791, combines a Boltaron thermoplastic shell — stronger, lighter, and more temperature-resistant than standard Kydex — with Full Grain Grade A U.S. Steerhide leather sewn directly through the shell. Our newest offering, the Magnetic RELIC Series, brings both patent lines together in a single holster. Across our product line, JM4 Tactical holds seven patents in total — three utility patents covering our core technologies and four registered design patents (D788,451, D811,731, D836,329, and D841,979) protecting the visual designs of our holsters. We also produce Full Grain U.S. Steerhide gun belts built to the same standard as everything else we make. Every product that leaves our facility is handcrafted in the United States, from American materials, by American workers.
